Good thing February is the shortest month of the year! I'm not sure how many ups and downs in one month investors can take. When the market had its biggest point loss of all time, don't listen to the talking heads on TV, do your own analysis and understand it is all about perspective and percentages. While there was no safe place to invest my money this month, down 4.56%, (except for the G Fund, which in my opinion is not an investment), I am completely comfortable with the how the market has weathered this storm. The issues affecting the market are the 2017 rapid rise in stock prices and the desire for profit taking, the odd bets that are played on the side like VIX volatility and options and puts, and finally the Fed interest rate. Interest rates have been so low for so long that they need to create a safety net for the next recession. By raising rates faster than people are used to, institutions will necessarily start to move their money into bonds as the "risk free rate" begins to rise. I am still positive for the year and I do not think this bull market has finished. The economy may be the strongest it has been in years, and for the long-term investor that is all good news. Again, I keep things in perspective, I had a worse month in October 2016 and the next month I had a return of over 3%. Keep calm and keep investing!
